Curriculum Focus
Problem Solving
Mothers will discover problem solving and decision-making abilities which will include Defining & Identifying the Problem, Analyzing the Problem, Determine What to Do, Implement the Plan, and Evaluate Progress.
Job Readiness
Staff will facilitate sessions on how to find a job, how to complete a job application, how to prepare for an interview, and how to create a resume. These skills are crucial for independent living and financial stability.
Stress Management
Staff will cover the definitions of stress, types of stress, coping strategies, self-care, stress management, and time management.
Goal Setting
Staff will help residents set goals for their life using the SMART Goal Setting Criteria. The goals will be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Residents will learn how to make an action plan for each goal identifying the methods, resources, barriers, and strategies to each goal they set.
Anger Management
Staff will help residents identify cues, how to deal with anger in a healthy way, consequences to acting out behavior, and techniques to managing emotions.
Budgeting
The residents will learn how to create and manage a budget. They will also learn about debt, credit management, and savings. All necessary to increase success in financial stability.
Post- Secondary Education
They will have the opportunity to explore their options in higher education. They will research colleges and training schools, learn about financial aid, entrance exams, and other educational tools and resource to enhance their interest in furthering their education.
Mentoring
Staff will act as mentors to each young lady. Providing encouragement, support, and motivation to them. Having healthy, positive interactions while empowering them to make good decisions.
